Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Domestic Relations Family Law Paralegal to join our legal team in Massachusetts. The ideal candidate will have solid experience supporting family law attorneys and will play an integral role in managing domestic relations cases, client interaction, and preparing legal documents. This position requires impeccable organizational skills, strong communication abilities, and a thorough knowledge of Massachusetts family law procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management: Handle all aspects of domestic relations case preparation, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, paternity, and modifications. Manage case timelines and track deadlines to ensure compliance with court requirements.
Document Preparation: Draft motions, pleadings, subpoenas, affidavits, and legal correspondence. Prepare discovery documents such as financial statements, interrogatories, and document requests.
Client Interaction: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining regular communication to provide updates and gather relevant case information. Demonstrate empathy and professionalism in sensitive family law matters.
Court Filings: File legal documents with courts, including e-filing in accordance with Massachusetts Rules of Court. Coordinate service of process and communication with courts as necessary.
Discovery and Case Research: Review and analyze client records, opposing party documents, and any relevant evidence to support legal proceedings. Conduct factual and legal research when required.
Administrative Support: Assist attorneys with trial preparation, including creating exhibits, trial binders, and witness coordination. Schedule and confirm meetings, hearings, and depositions.
Qualifications:
3+ years of paralegal experience with a focus on family law/domestic relations in Massachusetts.
Paralegal certificate or relevant higher education in legal studies.
Extensive knowledge of Massachusetts family law procedures, rules, and guidelines.
Strong proficiency in e-filing systems used in Massachusetts courts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Impeccable attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases/priorities simultaneously.
Familiarity with legal research tools and family law software, such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, and family law practice management software.
Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion, integrity, and professionalism.
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor's degree in legal studies or a related field.
Experience using document management systems and cloud-based legal technology platforms.
