Lead Technician – Job Summary

The Lead Technician supports the Workshop Supervisor/Manager and plays a key role in guiding junior technicians while ensuring the maintenance and repair of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and commercial trucks. This position upholds high standards of safety, quality, and operational

efficiency within the workshop environment.

Hours of operation:

Monday-Friday 5am – 9pm

Saturday-Sunday 6am – 10pm

1st and 2nd Shifts are available, 8.5 hours per shifts.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues independently.
  • Use technical manuals and schematics to identify repair procedures.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on GSE and commercial trucks according to OEM standards.

Maintenance & Workshop Operations

  • Lead adherence to 5S workplace organization principles.
  • Conduct detailed inspections, including fluid levels, lights, hours, and overall equipment condition.
  • Report damages or out‑of‑scope tasks to the supervisor for further action.
  • Carry out refurbishing tasks such as fabrication, welding, painting, and bodywork.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment.
  • Participate in safety programs by reporting hazards and suggesting improvements.
  • Support on‑call duties as required.

Mentoring & Training

  • Train and mentor junior technicians and new hires through structured onboarding and ongoing coaching.
  • Reinforce proper work habits, safety practices, and procedural compliance.
  • Promote effective communication and teamwork across the workshop.

Operational Coordination

  • Communicate daily work status updates to support smooth workflow planning.
  • Share technical knowledge and best practices with colleagues.

Administrative Tasks

  • Accurately complete and close work orders in the maintenance system.
  • Assign and record spare parts used during repairs.
  • Complete maintenance checklists thoroughly.
  • Provide timely updates on delays or equipment availability issues.
  • Follow timekeeping procedures.
  • Upload repair photos and documentation as required.

Other Duties

  • Promote safe behavior and professional conduct in the workshop.
  • Adapt to changing workloads and operational needs.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Competencies

  • Minimum 4 years of advanced mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical repair experience.
  • Strong ability to interpret schematics, manuals, and maintenance plans.
  • In‑depth knowledge of GSE and commercial truck systems and relevant operational standards.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and time‑management skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities with a commitment to team development.
  • High integrity and a collaborative mindset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Workshop‑based with occasional fieldwork.
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently; heavier loads with assistance.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Regular use of PPE and adherence to safety protocols around heavy machinery.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Boston, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $81120.00 - $91520.00/yr.

They offer three different medical plans with UHC (1 HSA plan and two traditional plans), there is cost sharing as well, for Employee Only TCR covers 80% of the monthly premium, for EE+ 1 or EE + Family TCR covers 65%. Delta is through Delta Dental And Vision is through UHC It's a comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, a 401k plan, PTO, paid sickness leave, and the provision of all PPE. Also provides employees with long and short term disability and life insurance at no cost. Additional life insurance can also be purchased through Lincoln.
