Overview
We are seeking detail-oriented and proactive Legal Assistant/Paralegal staff to join our dynamic legal team in the litigation or probate department. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience across various practice areas, including probate litigation, corporate and real estate related litigation, estate planning and more. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent research abilities, and a solid understanding of legal administrative processes. This position provides vital support to attorneys and contributes to the efficient operation of our law office. A litigation assistant is our most pressing need, but we are also seeking an assistant in the probate department on account of a large influx of new cases.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case development.
- Assist with document review, drafting legal documents, contracts, and correspondence with precision and attention to detail.
- Manage case files using document management systems and paper filing; ensure proper filing and organization of legal documents.
- Support litigation processes through document review, case management, and preparation for court proceedings.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records in legal case management systems.
- Proofread legal documents, and handle administrative tasks such as filing, scheduling, and phone etiquette.
- Assist attorneys with administrative support tasks such as organizing files, managing deadlines, and coordinating meetings.
Qualifications
- Paralegal experience or relevant legal administrative experience is required.
- Knowledge of multiple practice areas including litigation, probate, estate planning, and real estate/land use is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Experience with case management software like Clio is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.
- Attention to detail in proofreading and document review tasks.
- Effective interviewing skills and professional phone etiquette.
- Ability to handle transcription tasks accurately and efficiently.
