Overview

Are you ready to start your career as a Staff Engineer in Civil Engineering? If so, Nobis wants you!


Nobis is looking for an entry-level Civil Staff Engineer to join our Civil Engineering group in either our Concord, New Hampshire or Lowell, MA office. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience and a desire to join our remarkable team of forward thinking committed partners.


What You'll Do

  • Perform task level activities as assigned by more experienced staff members, project managers, or supervisors;
  • Review and interpret engineering reports, maps, drawings, specifications, regulations, ordinances, field test results, design manuals, aerial photographs, and other data necessary for civil engineering projects. Communicate technical information with equipment and materials vendors, accurately document such communications, and apply the information obtained to the relevant project work;
  • Prepare basic engineering calculations and work with project team members to evaluate the feasibility of engineering planning or design projects based on preparation and analysis of the engineering calculations and other pertinent data;
  • Assist project team to prepare, review, and modify, as necessary, technical reports, plans, specifications, details engineering calculations, and other engineering or project documents;
  • Observe and/or inspect project sites prior to, during, or after construction to monitor and/or assess construction progress and ensure conformance with engineering plans, specifications, regulations, and accepted construction and safety standards, and prepare written construction inspection and observations summaries;
  • Collect necessary field data through observation or through basic field data collection techniques using basic field instruments such as field survey equipment, tape measures, flow meters, turbidity samplers, sieve analyses, and cameras; and
  • Use engineering software and computer hardware necessary to complete engineering analysis and engineering design projects. Software may include computer assisted drafting and design (CADD) software, stormwater design software applications, and spreadsheet applications.

Requirements:

What You’ll Need to Bring With You

  • Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university in Civil Engineering or engineering technology; zero to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, have own transportation, and be able to travel for project site visits, meetings, data collection, and training. Travel is highly dependent upon project work requirements and may be extensive at times.
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) designation is preferred.
