POSITION SUMMARY

The Machine Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of EPIC’s manufacturing plant maintenance department. This position will manage the maintenance of all types of machinery in the EPIC manufacturing plant, develop preventive maintenance procedures, and direct the training of contractors. The Maintenance Manager will create a budget to manage expenditures related to the upgrades of plant equipment.

This role will lead teams responsible for various projects such as process improvement, documentation, reduction of unplanned downtime from machinery failures, and increased efficiency levels. In addition, this role will also manage capital equipment asset management for repair, rebuild, or replacement of equipment.

The manager will also be responsible for coordinating and scheduling all preventative maintenance activities for all plant equipment, managing the environmental compliance and interfacing with regulatory agencies, and leading continuous improvements through financially justifying cost improvement processing.

· Fork Truck Mechanic

· Plant Electrician

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Manage the maintenance staff and ensure production lines perform at peek efficiencies.

· Manage mechanical breakdowns on the production floor, addressing these breakdowns with a sense of urgency.

· Manage root cause & corrective action analysis to address mechanical issues.

· Ensure maintenance team members adhere to training plans, GMP, safety, company policies & procedures.

· Utilize the Vorne system to track downtime trends and make correctives action improvements.

· Work with Management for Production and Plant capital planning and execution.

· Ensure PMs are completed by team members in a timely manner and missing equipment PMs are created.

· Manage PMs in PMC for efficiency and ensure updates are added.

· Manage to ensure supervisor is maintaining weekly PM adherence sheet for PM completion percentages.

· Ensure parts that are required are ordered in a timely manner.

· Manage spending trends of spare parts.

· Oversee the scheduling and cost of yearly minor and major PMs by outside contractors.

· Manage, approve weekend work and overtime as needed.

· Manage the daily performance of supervisor and team members.

· Evaluate supervisor and team members’ performance to determine training needs and development opportunities.

· Manage and oversee any disciplinary actions if needed throughout your department.

· Responsible for conducting interviews and hiring staff as needed.

· Manager staff performance reviews.

· Demonstrate a sense of urgency when a production line is down due to a mechanical failure to get line running as soon as possible.

· Firsthand approach if/when needed to provide mechanical intervention as needed to get or keep lines running.

· Monitoring/tracking of supervisor and team members workloads.

· Responsible to utilize contractors, supervisor or any team member as needed to troubleshoot issues with a piece of equipment.

· Overlapping required daily for communication purposes with 2nd & 3rd shift mechanics.

· Backup person for approving weekly payroll.

· All 3-production line equipment, warmers, plasticizer, de-palletizers, fillers, seamers, conveyors, packers, palletizers, and robots.

  • Working/communicating with all team members, plant supervisors and management.
  • Attending daily meetings as required.
  • Oversee contractors when they are onsite for the production needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to get a production line running whenever a line goes down due to a mechanical reason.
  • Able to be ready to intervene as needed to keep lines up and running and keep your supervisor and team members on track with the work they are doing.
  • Responsible to utilize supervisor or any team member as needed to troubleshoot issues that cannot be resolved with a piece of equipment in a timely manner.
  • Overlapping required daily for communication purposes with 2nd & 3rd shift mechanics.
  • Backup person for approving weekly payroll.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in mechanical/engineering, maintenance management, or related field preferred. Five years relevant experience and hands-on technical experience with mechanical, control, electrical, and operations of industrial machinery.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles, building trades, safety, lockout-tagout programs, QA/QC practices, and energy savings and sustainability.
  • Experience with large capital projects, smaller renovation, and plant renewal activities. Short- and long-term plant master planning, maintenance planning and engineering.
  • Experience with maintenance management and building management systems.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to effectively manage a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Data-driven approach to strategic decisions; and ability to understand complex budgets and contractual agreements.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and best practices for plant maintenance.
  • Must be able to foster a positive work environment and lead a team of mechanics and other staff in a team-centered organization.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ABILITIES:

· The employee must be able to work 8+ hour shifts.

· The ability to work frequent overtime hours.

· The ability to work nights/weekends and on call if/when required.

· This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.

· The employee must be able to work in a cold and hot environment.

· Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
