The Baker assists in the preparation of quality baked goods for the student board menu, catered events and for cash operations.
This is a full time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $19.92-$24.40 per hour. The earliest start date for this position is mid-August 2025.
Core Responsibilities:
- Prepare pies, cakes, breads, cookies, and other bakery goods according to production records to support the need of Dining Services.
- Daily, assemble baked items in transport boxes for delivery to the other units. Include ingredient lists for all baked items.
- Clean work area according to sanitation standards to include equipment, ovens, counters, and floors.
- Research and introduce new bread and dessert items for board plan and catering.
- Send out ingredient list for all items and ensures its accuracy. This information is relied upon for identifying and informing allergens.
- Perform other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.
- Alert the Head Baker of any shortages of ingredients that would impact the production of those menu items.
- Provide the receiver with an order list for items needed in the Bake Shop.
Requirements
- Requires prior baking experience, preferably institutional baking.
- Must pass the Managers Level Serve Safe exam within a year of being hired.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to lift items above waist level Must be able to push and pull up to 150 lbs. frequently. This job requires long periods of standing. Also requires frequent bending and twisting motions and manual activities. Must be able to preform numerous manual tasks and use a variety of kitchen equipment in a safe manner.
