Title: Lab Assistant - 3rd shift
Duration: 4 Months
Location: Marlborough MA 01752
Shift: Monday - Friday 11PM - 7AM
Payrate : $23.00 - $26.00/Hr on W2 depending on Experience
Job Summary:
Perform various routine laboratory functions in a precise and accurate fashion to assist the laboratory professional staff and to facilitate production.
Job Requirements:
- Specimen Handling: Sorting and receiving specimens in the department.
- Instrument Maintenance: Performs routine maintenance on some laboratory equipment.
- Lab Tasks: Centrifuging specimens, printing extra labels, recording data (e.g., temperature charts), specimen storage and retrieval.
- Reagent Preparation: Preparing reagents and/or media in the department.
- Specimen Preparation: Building worklists, aliquoting specimens into sample cups, checking for clots and fibrin, inoculation, and slide preparation.
- Quality Assurance: Performs QA/QC duties as assigned.
- Sample Management: Resolves pending lists and finds missing samples.
- Safety & Cleanliness: Decontaminates work areas and performs weekly radioactive wipe tests.
- Record Keeping: Maintains files for department records.
- Equipment Handling: Changes gas cylinders.
- Compliance: Follows all PPE requirements and safety regulations.
- Technology Use: Uses the laboratory computer system and operates PCs.
- Waste Disposal: Disposes of biohazardous material properly.
- Training: Completes training and competency checklists as appropriate.

Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical assistant training helpful.
- Math and science courses preferred.
Work Experience:
- No prior experience required.

- Must be able to retain information once learned.
- Must interact with coworkers and internal/external customers with courtesy and respect.
Additional Job Details:
Steady hands required for pouring into test tubes and processing urine.
