About the Role

The Shelter Staff position is essential to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of young people staying at the Youth Emergency Overnight Shelter. You will provide hands-on support, assist with crisis intervention, and maintain a compassionate, structured environment that promotes dignity and stability for all guests.

This is a part-time role requiring two full shifts per week - Tuesday and Friday Overnight (16 hours total). You’ll be part of a dedicated team that works collaboratively to support youth in accessing resources, developing trust, and taking the next steps toward independence.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Experience working in social assistance, shelter services, or a related field.

• Understanding of crisis intervention and conflict resolution.

• Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• Clear background check and ability to pass required screenings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in social work, psychology, or human services.

• Certification in First Aid and CPR.

• Experience with vulnerable populations, including individuals facing homelessness, trauma, or mental health challenges.

• Familiarity with local community resources and support networks.

• Strong computer and documentation skills.
