About the Role
The Shelter Staff position is essential to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of young people staying at the Youth Emergency Overnight Shelter. You will provide hands-on support, assist with crisis intervention, and maintain a compassionate, structured environment that promotes dignity and stability for all guests.
This is a part-time role requiring two full shifts per week - Tuesday and Friday Overnight (16 hours total). You’ll be part of a dedicated team that works collaboratively to support youth in accessing resources, developing trust, and taking the next steps toward independence.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience working in social assistance, shelter services, or a related field.

Understanding of crisis intervention and conflict resolution.

Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Clear background check and ability to pass required screenings.
Preferred Qualifications

Post-secondary education in social work, psychology, or human services.

Certification in First Aid and CPR.

Experience with vulnerable populations, including individuals facing homelessness, trauma, or mental health challenges.

Familiarity with local community resources and support networks.

Strong computer and documentation skills.
