Position Summary
The General Manager oversees all operational functions at RELCO, including field operations, project management, estimating, purchasing, safety, and service. This role has full P&L responsibility and directly leads the service department supporting commercial and industrial electrical, automation, and fire safety work.
The GM is a hands-on operator who leads through clarity, accountability, and strong financial and technical judgment. This position works closely with the Crete United Regional Vice President of Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Financial Leadership
- Lead all day-to-day operations; meet or exceed annual revenue, margin, and EBITDA goals.
- Drive project execution excellence through strong estimating, pricing, scheduling, forecasting, labor planning, and material-cost management.
- Participate in monthly financial and operational reviews with regional leadership.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team across field and office roles.
- Model and reinforce a strong safety culture across all job sites and facilities.
- Support field workforce growth and help position RELCO as an employer of choice in the region.
Client, Market & Partner Engagement
- Strengthen relationships with existing clients and support business development efforts to grow new accounts.
- Maintain productive relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and Crete United partner companies.
- Represent RELCO with urgency, professionalism, and credibility in all external interactions.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee and improve field operations, estimating, project management, purchasing, and service processes.
- Ensure consistent execution quality, profitability, and workflow discipline from bid through closeout.
- Support and help grow service and maintenance offerings.
Qualifications
Required:
- 10+ years of operations leadership in commercial electrical or MEP contracting.
- Proven success in a P&L accountable role.
- Experience leading teams of 50+ across field and office environments.
- Strong technical grounding (electrician, estimator, PM, engineer, or operations background).
- Experience managing complex commercial or industrial projects ($5M+).
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred:
- Design-build project experience.
