Position Summary
The Workshop Manager oversees the day to day operations of a maintenance workshop, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. This role involves managing workflow, leading a team of technicians, coordinating with internal departments, and maintaining strong relationships with customers.
The manager also takes full ownership of the site’s financial results, including budgeting, cost control, and P&L accountability. Acting as the primary on site leader, this position focuses on driving operational performance, supporting team development, and delivering consistent service quality.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
• Lead the workshop team to ensure safe, accurate, and timely maintenance and repair work.
• Manage the daily workflow, including prioritizing tasks, overseeing repairs, and coordinating new work requests.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant workshop and yard environment.
• Review completed work each day to confirm proper documentation, labor hours, and parts usage.
• Monitor costs and budget performance, taking full responsibility for the site’s financial outcomes.
• Provide regular operational updates to senior leadership.
Process, Project & Compliance Management
• Oversee routine servicing, inspections, maintenance planning, and repair work.
• Lead local improvement projects, facility upgrades, and equipment installations.
• Obtain customer authorization before starting billable work and manage warranty or defect related approvals.
• Coordinate with contractors and internal teams to ensure projects are completed safely and on schedule.
• Track KPIs and service standards, adjusting operations when needed.
• Review and approve overtime, subcontractor work, and parts purchases.
• Ensure defects are repaired correctly and that records are complete and accurate.
• Conduct and reinforce safety briefings, toolbox talks, and compliance activities.
People Leadership
• Manage scheduling, shift coverage, and staffing plans.
• Balance team workloads and oversee task prioritization to maximize productivity.
• Address performance concerns through coaching, feedback, or corrective action.
• Handle attendance, including return to work discussions.
• Recruit, onboard, and train new team members.
• Support technician development, including emerging skills such as electrical/EV training.
• Partner with HR on employee relations matters.
Customer & Commercial Responsibilities
• Serve as the main point of contact for customers visiting or servicing equipment at the workshop.
• Ensure services meet quality expectations and contractual requirements.
• Respond promptly to customer concerns and maintain strong working relationships.
• Support commercial teams in aligning operations with customer contracts.
• Identify additional service opportunities that could benefit customers.
Health, Safety & Quality
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture consistent with OSHA requirements.
• Ensure proper use of PPE and safety devices.
• Investigate accidents, near misses, or hazardous conditions and report findings promptly.
• Participate in safety initiatives and support corrective actions.
Additional Responsibilities
• Oversee subcontractors and visitors, ensuring compliance with safety and performance expectations.
• Investigate equipment damage or workplace incidents and complete required reports.
• Perform additional operational or administrative duties as needed.

Performance will be measured based on:
• Financial Stewardship: Budget adherence, P&L management, cost efficiency.
• Operational Output: Productivity, reduced lost time, efficiency of hours worked vs. hours billed.
• Project Execution: Timely, on budget, and on scope project completion.
• Service Reliability: Response times, equipment uptime, and quality control.
• Customer Experience: Issue resolution, communication, and overall satisfaction.
• Team Management: Attendance management, coaching effectiveness, performance management.
• Workforce Development: Continuous training completion and readiness for new technologies.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is an on site role requiring regular travel throughout the workshop, yard areas, and office spaces. The position may require access to secured or airside areas depending on location.
Physical expectations include:
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Exposure to noise, outdoor conditions, and typical workshop hazards.
• Regular use of computers and administrative tools.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Boston, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
They offer three different medical plans with UHC (1 HSA plan and two traditional plans), there is cost sharing as well, for Employee Only TCR covers 80% of the monthly premium, for EE+ 1 or EE + Family TCR covers 65%. Delta is through Delta Dental And Vision is through UHC It's a comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, a 401k plan, PTO, paid sickness leave, and the provision of all PPE. Also provides employees with long and short term disability and life insurance at no cost. Additional life insurance can also be purchased through Lincoln.
