Provide advanced nursing care in a cardiac step-down unit specializing in telemetry and complex cardiac management. This contract role involves working with patients transitioning from critical care areas, requiring proficiency in cardiac-related procedures and telemetry monitoring.
Location:Based in Dover, NH, this position offers an opportunity to contribute to a specialized cardiac medical unit known for its high standards of patient care and advanced clinical practices.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver skilled nursing care to patients in a 20-bed cardiac step-down setting
- Manage telemetry monitoring and cardiac-related conditions, including chest pain, CHF, COPD, and stroke overflow
- Perform advanced nursing procedures such as thoracentesis, peritoneal dialysis (PD), tracheostomy care, pacemaker management, and post-cardiac catheterization care
- Collaborate within 4-RN care teams supported by nursing assistants and unit clerks to maintain a 5:1 patient ratio
- Utilize Meditech Expanse for accurate and timely electronic documentation
- Participate in bedside shift rounds and thorough handoffs to ensure patient safety and quality care
- Adhere to professional dress code and unit-specific guidelines
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- Proficiency in telemetry nursing and cardiac patient management
- Experience with advanced cardiac procedures listed above
- Current certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Ability to work three 12-hour shifts per week plus every other weekend or alternative scheduling as outlined
- Familiarity with hospital policies including floating protocols and patient care standards
