SUMMARY: The Engineer III, R&D is a hands-on position and responsible for executing various tasks in support of NPI Engineering, including but not limited to coordinating new customer projects, preparing prototypes/samples; completing new process review; supporting engineering validation runs; defining process parameters and controls; transferring processes to production; and providing technical support to production processes: support root cause analysis and systematic problem solving.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process Engineer Job Responsibilities:
- Work directly with sales and engineering to coordinate execution of new customer opportunities.
- Work within ERP system to modify and create records to support Part Numbers, Routings, Inspection Sheets, and other documents as needed.
- Establish process standards, design tooling, develop testing protocols, prepare equipment, document test results, maintain records for analysis and prepare reports for internal and customer use.
- Assist in the development and execution of Validation protocols, including IQ, OQ, PQ, as well as control documents, working closely with Quality and Production.
- Sample Preparation and Execution: Responsible to meet and/or exceed customer expectations for quantity, quality, and delivery.
- Support the execution and transfer of new products and processes into production.
- Assist with Return Material Authorization (RMA), Temporary Deviation (TDRA) and Contract Review Process for NPI products.
- Support the Non-Conforming Material & Return Material meetings, and other Quality-related meetings, to assist in investigations related to NPI products.
- Develop and Execute DOEs for process characterization.
- Comfortable working in both laboratory and manufacturing environments.
- Take part in all required training sessions related to Quality Assurance, Lean, Manufacturing Process, and EHS programs.
- Participate in periodic testing and performance evaluations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors’ Degree in an engineering discipline (Chemical Engineer is preferred) and 5 plus years of experience working as a process engineer.
- Knowledge of medical device manufacturing and/or ISO 13485 is preferred.
- Effective team player who can work cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering, Production, and Quality personnel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of engineering principles and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform in an independent manner with minimal direct supervision.
- Knowledge of MS office, MS Project, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, JMP and ChemTrak preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Experience working in a wet chemistry lab.
- Knowledge of the metallurgical properties of Aluminum alloys
- Manufacturing methods and procedures
- Problem Solving
- Technical understanding of coatings and anodizing
- Documentation skills
- CAD/Solid Works
