We seek a motivated and detail-oriented Data Quality Specialist to join our enterprise data management consulting team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about organizing and improving data quality. You will play a critical part in helping our clients create a single source of truth for critical data analysis and business insights.
This position involves working closely with end users and stakeholders to analyze and validate data from various systems, spreadsheets, and text files. Strong communication skills are essential for gathering input and understanding requirements from diverse teams.
Key Responsibilities
Data Quality Assessment
- Perform comprehensive data quality assessments to identify issues, risks, and root causes.
- Utilize data profiling, discovery, and statistical analysis techniques to analyze data patterns, identify anomalies, and measure data quality dimensions (e.g., accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness).
- Develop and present clear and concise reports on data quality findings and actionable recommendations.
Data Quality Improvement
- Contribute to the design and implementation of data quality improvement plans, including data cleansing, standardization, enrichment, and deduplication strategies.
- Apply data quality rules, thresholds, and validation checks to ensure compliance with master data management (MDM) objectives.
- Provide data quality monitoring and reporting to track progress, measure success, and identify emerging issues.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work directly with end users, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and institutional knowledge.
- Communicate findings, inconsistencies, and data needs effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Tools and Manual Processing
- Utilize tools such as Microsoft Excel and text file editors to perform manual data cleansing and manipulation tasks.
- Apply advanced Excel techniques (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas) to consolidate and analyze data.
- Assist with preparing and loading clean data into production environments.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience working with disparate data sets across multiple systems.
- Expertise in data quality assessments, including profiling, anomaly detection, and root cause analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions like pivot tables, lookups, and data validation.
- Experience analyzing and processing text files.
- Strong problem-solving skills and an acute attention to detail.
- Practical written and verbal communication skills for working with end users and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience in designing and implementing data quality improvement plans.
- Familiarity with master data management (MDM) concepts.
- Exposure to data quality tools, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and data quality monitoring solutions is a plus.
- Understanding of data governance principles and practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
