Summary
We are seeking 2 individuals to be a 2:1 aide for a child in our Summer program, our program will start on June 17th for training and will end on August 13th after reviews. Our program works out of Mary Hogan Elementary school from 8am-5pm (closed on July 3rd). We are looking for an individual who has experience working with non verbal students and will offer a competitive rate for 40 hrs of work per week (8 hr days).
Duties
Provide continuous 2:1 supervision to ensure child's safety at all times. Implement safety protocols to prevent elopement, support communication using alternative communication methods (communication tablets, etc.), be able to maintain documentation about students day for the family and our summer camp.
Aid in bathroom use (changing a diaper)
Requirements
Extensive experience supporting students with higher needs and the ability to work as a team. Demonstrate success in maintaining safety of the student and managing elopement behaviors. Experience with escalation techniques and strong situational awareness and ability to remain calm under pressure.
Student will need assistance changing their diaper periodically throughout the day. You will be required to supervise the child at the pool, this means getting into the water daily with the student.
Adult will need to be reliable, patient, and physically able to respond quickly when needed.
Proffered Qualification:
Experience in special education setting. Training in CPI and safety care or similar crisis intervention programs. Familiarity with nonverbal communication systems.
Candidates must be 18 years of age, meet education and/or experience requirements, and pass a background check.

Our goal is to make all children feel wanted and cared for while providing a safe environment for all students. This position will mainly be working as a pair with a student that will need additional individual support, however you will still be part of our classroom team and will foster connections with other children in the program.
