Job Title: Construction Specialist (Telecom)
Location: South Yarmouth, MA
Hourly Pay Range: $28-$33
Long-Term Contract
Our client, a major Telecommunications provider, is looking to hire a Construction Specialist to support their Field Operations team in South Yarmouth, MA.
The Construction Specialist supports the construction team which is responsible for expanding services in areas that are not customers. The Construction Specialist would be responsible for tracking the progress of assigned projects, reviewing and approving contractor invoices, communicating with other vendors for proper documentation into the tracking system (P2), and adhering to timelines set forth for the project.
Additional responsibilities:
• Ensures the execution of overhead/underground construction duties such as: placing hard-line cables, frame and strand poles, transfer facilities between poles, placing cable in joint trench, and safe operation of construction vehicles and cable trailers.
• Investigate and monitor accurate record keeping concerning project start, milestone dates, production logs, material costs, and labor expenditures.
• Instructs work site safety standards; conducts work site visits to ensure compliance with safety standards and participates in regular safety meetings with the crew.
• Supports Specialists and leadership team with coordination of projects.
• Generates logs and reports on construction, projects, materials, and expenditures.
• Reviews, resolves, and follows-up on customer requests and complaints.
• Monitors the performance of the construction crew to establish goals and objectives.
• Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime as necessary.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of business support, technical, or production staff who perform tasks in the same function
• Sets priorities for the team. Assigns tasks and checks work at regular intervals
• Responsible for ensuring all work performed on the project meets or exceeds Comcast, Local, State or Federal standards and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Updating the JT or Polaris entry (job docs/maps) QC for path verification
• Primary contractor interface day-to-day in the field and in turn acts as the NGAN liaison with the Regional network Technicians
• New or upgraded power supply in place and operational (in continuity) before the cut date.
• Overall responsibility for the quality of the NGAN product: Next Generation Access Network (NGAN)
Requirements:
- Telecom or communications experience is needed; looking at network/construction side of things
- Able to be out in the field 50% of the time
- Day to day - surveying jobs, looking at footage between poles, footage between homes to build out the fiber cable network
- Will have a lot of mileage in this role
- Will collect information on poles, doing walkouts, they have maps, a lot of areas will need someone to create their own sketch on pen and paper or Adobe or whatever tool they choose
