Job DescriptionJob Summary:
The electrical engineer or technician plays a pivotal role in the manufacturing of high temperature furnaces. Designing power supplies based on requirements within the furnace, including various current and voltage ratings, watt calculations, and size restrictions. The diagrams and assemblies will be designed using Solidworks and DraftSight.
The Mellen Company Inc is looking for an electrical engineer or technician for the ongoing development of advanced data acquisition and control technologies. Familiarity with Arduino programming experience is preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Design and evaluate electrical systems, products, components to local safety regulations with possible additional designs for UL, CE, CSA, and other regulatory systems on a job by job basis.
- Use Solidworks and DraftSight to design power supplies for high temperature electrical resistance furnaces.
- Configure and test electrical systems prior to shipment to ensure the product is fully functional before it reaches the end user.
- Contribute to the team effort by assisting the mechanical engineers by verifying wiring diagrams and ensuring appropriate wiring and power ratings in the system.
- Ability to work independently and with others effectively to create a complete system.
- Create clear and concise wiring diagrams, part layouts, and assembly instructions.
- Compile bills of materials and purchase requisitions for job specific components
- Work with end users, in a limited basis, to answer technical support and setup questions
Qualifications and Skills
- Detail oriented individual
- Prior Solidworks experience required (minimum 3 years).
- Prior PCB design and firmware coding experience preferred.
- Prior PID controller (e.g., Omega, Eurotherm, Watlow) is beneficial.
- Familiarity with the National Electric Code and designing power supplies for large systems

Hours
- M-F 8am-4:30PM
- 1/2 hour lunch at 12pm
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
