Position Type: Contract Assignment
Duration: 13 Weeks
Pay Rate: $32.00/hour (W2)

Job Summary

A healthcare organization in Hyannis, Massachusetts is seeking a Laboratory Donor Care Specialist to support blood donor services. This role is responsible for donor recruitment, screening, blood collection, and ensuring a safe, high-quality donor experience while complying with all regulatory and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent customer service to all internal and external users in alignment with organizational standards

  • Screen blood donors to ensure eligibility in accordance with CDC, FDA, AABB, CAP, and internal policies

  • Perform whole blood collections and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures

  • Conduct blood collections at off-site blood drives and within the donor center

  • Prepare, label, and process blood components and specimens for laboratory testing

  • Accurately document donor records, data entry, and donor deferrals while maintaining quality control standards

  • Assist with donor recruitment and community outreach initiatives

  • Monitor daily inventory and restock donor care supplies as needed; communicate supply needs to leadership

  • Obtain appropriate blood specimens from donors and patients

  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary work areas to ensure patient and staff safety

  • Adhere to departmental and hospital policies, including safety, fire, and disaster protocols

  • Consistently demonstrate service excellence toward patients, donors, visitors, volunteers, and coworkers

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support department operations

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)

  • Prior phlebotomy experience (required)

  • National phlebotomy certification or completion of an accredited phlebotomy program (preferred)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and perform effectively under pressure

  • Proficiency with computers and electronic documentation systems
