Pay Rate: $32.00/hour (W2)
Job Summary
A healthcare organization in Hyannis, Massachusetts is seeking a Laboratory Donor Care Specialist to support blood donor services. This role is responsible for donor recruitment, screening, blood collection, and ensuring a safe, high-quality donor experience while complying with all regulatory and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver excellent customer service to all internal and external users in alignment with organizational standards

Screen blood donors to ensure eligibility in accordance with CDC, FDA, AABB, CAP, and internal policies

Perform whole blood collections and therapeutic phlebotomy procedures

Conduct blood collections at off-site blood drives and within the donor center

Prepare, label, and process blood components and specimens for laboratory testing

Accurately document donor records, data entry, and donor deferrals while maintaining quality control standards

Assist with donor recruitment and community outreach initiatives

Monitor daily inventory and restock donor care supplies as needed; communicate supply needs to leadership

Obtain appropriate blood specimens from donors and patients

Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary work areas to ensure patient and staff safety

Adhere to departmental and hospital policies, including safety, fire, and disaster protocols

Consistently demonstrate service excellence toward patients, donors, visitors, volunteers, and coworkers

Perform additional duties as assigned to support department operations
Education, Experience & Qualifications
-
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

High School Diploma or GED (required)

Prior phlebotomy experience (required)

National phlebotomy certification or completion of an accredited phlebotomy program (preferred)

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and perform effectively under pressure

Proficiency with computers and electronic documentation systems
