Vermont Cider Company is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to join our manufacturing team . The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented individual who has a keen eye for the details and who would like to support the organization. This is a great opportunity to join an innovative organization.
The Quality Assurance Technician conducts quality assurance audits of bottler production facilities assuring company standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved. Consults with management to resolve quality, production, and efficiency problems. Functions as an information source to cider makers, packagers, and various company departments when special and critical quality issues occur.
Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 5:00 am to 3:30 pm - hours are subject to change based on production needs.
Areas of Responsibility include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Perform microbiological testing (aseptic techniques, enrichment, plating) on raw ingredients, in-process liquids, and finished products.
- Perform chemical technical and physical analyses on raw ingredients, packaging materials, in-process liquid, and finished products.
- Maintain and improve QC documentation with VHCC's internal data system.
- Set up tasting panels and trainings for sensory analysis program.
- Provide support in identifying critical control points within the cidery and proposing solutions.
- Conduct periodic internal QA audits.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
- Generate standard operating procedures.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- B.S./B.A. degree in microbiology, biology, biochemistry, or food science preferred, but not required.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and organized.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiastic about working in a fast-growing, evolving workspace.
- Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a busy and close-quartered environment.
- Ability to safely handle hazardous chemicals in accordance with strict safety protocols.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Experience in manufacturing environment preferred.

- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
