About the Role

The Calibration Lead is responsible for managing and executing all calibration activities—both internal and external—to ensure all measurement instruments and test equipment consistently meet regulatory, customer, and quality system requirements.

This role combines hands-on technical calibration expertise with leadership in process control, data integrity, and compliance to international standards. The Calibration Lead acts as the technical authority for calibration methodologies, uncertainty analysis, and traceability systems, ensuring operational excellence and continuous improvement across all metrology functions.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, perform, and verify in-lab and on-site calibrations for electrical, mechanical, thermal, and pressure instruments, maintaining full traceability to NIST or equivalent standards.

Develop, validate, and optimize calibration procedures and uncertainty budgets using Fluke Editor and manufacturer specifications in alignment with ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540 requirements.

Manage Fluke MET/CAL, MET/TEAM, and the Fluke Customer Portal, ensuring accuracy, version control, and data integrity of calibration records.

Analyze calibration data for trends, measurement drift, and process capability; recommend corrective actions and process improvements.

Oversee and audit external calibration vendors, verifying certification accuracy, environmental conditions, and adherence to specified tolerances.

Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for calibration-related nonconformances.

Prepare detailed calibration performance reports, including KPI tracking, turnaround metrics, and equipment status summaries, using Crystal Reports and advanced Excel functions.

Support internal and external quality audits, presenting evidence of calibration traceability, procedure validation, and instrument control.

Partner with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure instrumentation readiness and alignment with product testing requirements.

Manage procurement and asset tracking for calibration tools and services through JD Edwards (JDE) or similar ERP systems.

Lead training and mentoring of calibration technicians, developing technical competencies and promoting adherence to safety and quality practices.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, throughput, and customer satisfaction through data-driven process optimization.

Education:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Metrology, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical field).

Experience:

3–5 years of hands-on experience in calibration, metrology, or test engineering, including at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory capacity (preferred).

Demonstrated proficiency in electrical and mechanical measurement principles, uncertainty analysis, and traceability systems.

Proven experience calibrating and troubleshooting a broad range of test and measurement equipment, including:

Multimeters, oscilloscopes, pressure gauges, high-voltage probes, temperature sensors, transducers, environmental chambers, power supplies, andmultiproduct calibrators.

Technical Proficiency

Advanced user of Fluke MET/CAL, MET/TEAM, and Fluke Editor for automated calibration control and documentation.

Skilled in data analysis and reporting using Crystal Reports, Excel (macros, pivot tables), and Word.

Familiar with JD Edwards (JDE) or equivalent ERP systems for asset management and procurement.

Understanding of measurement uncertainty, calibration intervals, and equipment tolerance determination.

Proficient with Microsoft Teams and collaborative digital tools.

Other

Effective communication and leadership in cross-functional and customer-facing settings.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a regulated, fast-paced technical environment.

ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT)

ISO 17025 Internal Auditor Training

OSHA 10/30 Certification

Work Environment

Work performed in both laboratory and on-site settings.

Requires standing for extended periods, operating precision instruments, and lifting moderate weights.

Exposure to controlled laboratory environments and occasional production floor activities.
