Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A nursing opportunity is available on the Cardiac Medical Unit, specializing in step-down care for patients transitioning from intensive cardiac settings. This unit provides comprehensive care including cardiac management, respiratory support, and post-procedure recovery in a 20-bed setting with a 5:1 patient ratio, supported by a well-staffed team including 4 RN teams, clinical nurse coordinators, licensed nursing assistants, and unit clerks.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current RN licensure with proficiency in telemetry monitoring.
- Advanced cardiac nursing skills including management of chest tubes, high-flow oxygen devices, BiPAP, thoracentesis, peritoneal dialysis, tracheostomies, pacemaker care, and cardiac catheterization monitoring.
- Completion of ASLS (Advanced Life Support) and BLS certifications required.
- Experience with Meditech Expanse documentation system desirable.
- Ability to perform bedside shift rounds and participate in effective handoffs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide expert nursing care within a cardiac step-down unit, managing complex patient needs and responding to changing conditions.
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams in a Level II Trauma center and accredited STEMI and Stroke center.
- Ensure adherence to unit policies and hospital protocols while maintaining professional appearance with required uniform.
- Operate and manage specialized equipment including IV pumps, Sara Steadys, Kangaroo pumps, and respiratory support apparatus.
