General Summary: Under the direction of the Vice-Chancellor, the Director of Institutional Research and Student Success leads the institutional research and student success initiatives and strategies for CCSNH. Exercises analytical leadership over research studies on CCSNH’s performance of its mission and disseminating core metrics to System and college stakeholders through the creation of dashboards and datasets.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Creates multi-year strategic data plans to ensure that CCSNH will have access to the data and findings needed for decision support and program evaluation.
- Advises senior management on programmatic and policy development through the analysis of data. Provides input to System and College leadership on policies and organizational practices related to increasing student access and success.
- Assures reliable and consistent data are maintained and available to all stakeholders across the System, to ensure adequate institutional research support for both ad hoc inquiries and ongoing longitudinal study.
- Creates a system of analyzing student success metrics and implement strategies in collaboration with colleges to enhance student persistence, retention, and completion.
- Manages the aggregation of data across platforms in a data warehouse.
- Drives the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources. May collaborate with other State and National organizations (NHES, NSC, NH DOE, Complete College America, EAB, National Institute for Student Success, National Center for Inquiry and Improvement, Community College Research Center etc.) to identify critical information and data necessary to support the mission of CCSNH.
- Oversees efforts to gather, analyze, and submit data to external agencies like NECHE, IPEDS, and specialized accrediting associations. Manages the fulfillment of student data compliance requirements of federal and state agencies and advocacy groups, including the US Department of Education, NH Department of Education and New Hampshire College and University Council.
- Compiles and submits information for data exchanges; analyze and report exchange data to System-wide leadership.
- Creates and manages data analysis routines.
- Works with CCSNH Data Governance Committee to establish data definitions and terms of appropriate use for data related to students and the completion of the educational mission.
- Supervises and manages related Institutional Research and Student Success Personnel and Initiatives.
- Manages the methodological creation of uniform dashboards, datasets, and fact sheets throughout CCSNH. Create a variety of formats for disseminating and communicating research information to stakeholders at the Colleges.
- Creates communication plans and strategies for ensuring that System and College stakeholders and decision-makers receive information in a manner suited to the audience.
- Supervises activities and professional development of System Office Institutional Research staff.
- Assists in the coordination of System-wide research projects conducted by college-based Institutional Research personnel.
- Provides leadership and training to CCSNH employees with respect to the collection, analysis, and appropriate use of research information.
- Complies with all system, college, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Experience: Seven (7) years’ professional experience in activities associated with educational research, educational data assessment and reporting, measurement and evaluation, strategic planning, or student success assessment and development with experience in a management level position involving administrative or supervisory duties concerned with program administration, planning, and evaluation or related management experience.
License/Certifications: Valid Driver’s License or access to statewide transportation.

Demonstrated strong performance collaborating with teams to effectively utilize enterprise-wide applications. Excellent written and verbal skills. Proficient in the use of technology, especially data analytic and graphic presentation software, as well as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in the performance of duties. Customer focused, action oriented, and committed to driving quality results. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by management.
