A growing electromechanical manufacturer in Weymouth, MA is expanding its 2nd shift operations and is seeking a hands-on Assembly Supervisor with a strong background in manufacturing, machine setup, troubleshooting, and team leadership.

This role is ideal for a Production Lead, Line Lead, Setup Technician, or Assistant Supervisor who has been the “go-to” person on the floor and is ready to fully own a shift.

You will be stepping into a well-supported environment and will receive direct training from a highly successful 1st shift supervisor who was previously placed in this role and is currently working 2nd shift to support the transition.

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Assembly Manager, you’ll lead and support a growing 2nd shift assembly team while remaining closely connected to day-to-day production.

This is not a desk-only role — strong shop-floor presence is expected.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, coach, and supervise a 2nd shift team (20–25 employees, growing to 35–40)
  • Set up and support assembly stations and work cells (light machinery, presses, hand tools)
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, process, and workflow issues to keep production on track
  • Make real-time decisions to support department goals, schedules, and productivity
  • Assign labor based on workload, delivery requirements, and skill sets
  • Track production progress, completed jobs, and material flow using ERP and production reports
  • Communicate shift updates, issues, and metrics to management
  • Enforce quality standards, safety practices, and shop rules
  • Support preventive maintenance, equipment upkeep, and clean work areas
  • Review and approve attendance and time reporting
  • Coordinate with Engineering on prints, shop packets, and BOM corrections
  • Partner with Quality and Materials to resolve defects, shortages, and scheduling conflicts
  • Process customer returns and required documentation
  • Support continuous improvement, lean initiatives, and workflow optimization

What They’re Looking For (Profile Match)

This role strongly targets candidates with a background similar to:

  • Production Line Lead
  • Setup Technician
  • Assistant Shift Supervisor
  • Manufacturing Lead / Department Lead
  • Electromechanical or Mechanical Assembly Lead

Required Experience

  • 4+ years of hands-on electromechanical or mechanical assembly experience
  • 3+ years in a leadership or lead role (training others, making floor decisions, shift communication)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
  • Experience reading blueprints, work instructions, and SOPs
  • Comfortable working directly with tools, equipment, and operators
  • ERP system experience and solid computer skills (MS Office)

Preferred Background

  • Experience in manufacturing environments such as machining, stamping, presses, assembly, or automation
  • Familiarity with measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Exposure to preventive maintenance, equipment adjustments, and quality inspection
  • Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or Kaizen exposure

Why This Role Attracts Strong Floor Leaders

  • Direct-hire, long-term opportunity with a stable manufacturer
  • Clear leadership ownership of an expanding 2nd shift
  • Strong onboarding and peer support during transition
  • Hands-on leadership role with real authority and autonomy
  • Competitive salary based on experience and growth potential

If you’ve been the person who keeps the line running, solves problems, and leads from the floor — this role was built for you.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply immediately as interviews are moving quickly.
