Job DescriptionSUMMARYThe Residential Sales Team Member is responsible for attending construction consultations and providing prospective clients with detailed construction proposals. This individual is expected to interact with homeowners, architects, subcontractors, and vendors throughout the bidding phase to secure contracts for future projects and assist our custom-building team once the project is underway. They must respond to inquiries in a timely manner and have a thorough understanding of residential construction to provide recommendations when necessary. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*

  • 6 months training working closely with Head of Sales, current Sale Representative, and Project Managers
  • Lead Management: Follow up on hot leads, guide potential clients through the sales process, and convert opportunities into projects.
  • Coordination: Review and coordinate subcontractor bids to ensure accuracy and alignment with project requirements.
  • Estimating & Pricing: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects, considering labor, materials, and subcontractor costs.
  • Client Engagement: Answer client inquiries with professionalism, ensuring clarity and confidence in our services.
  • Proposal Development: Write comprehensive, persuasive project proposals tailored to client needs.
  • Problem-Solving: Address challenges proactively, providing creative solutions that maintain project timelines and budget.
  • Vendor & Subcontractor Relationships: Build and maintain a network of reliable subcontractors, architects, and vendors to support project needs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with clients, architects, and project managers to align project expectation and execution.
  • Expected to commute to client estimates several times per week within a 30-mile radius of Burlington
  • Strong business acumen required, with ability to make informed, strategic decisions
  • Weekly team meetings with the Sales and Marketing Team

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in residential construction with a strong understanding of building methods, materials, and costs
  • Sales and customer service experience, with ability to build relationships and close deals
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management, capable of prioritizing and meeting deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, & Outlook) and other relevant software
  • Strong interpersonal skills & communication skills; personable & professional interactions
  • Ability to handle rejection, pressure, and feedback constructively
  • Team oriented mindset, willing to collaborate and assist in achieving collective goals
  • Self-motivated and results driven with a sense of urgency and ownership of tasks
  • Willingness to get hands-on as needed, including visiting job sites or addressing urgent issues
  • Knowledge of construction and remodeling trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, plastering, painting, etc.), practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, cost, and applicable building codes
  • Ability to read and understand architect and engineering plans
  • Must be able to write contracts and communicate Fresh Start Contracting standards to prospective customers
  • Competent understanding of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote
  • Ability to send and receive e-mails
  • General computer literacy for functional use of other programs such as Dropbox, Salesforce, and Zoom
  • Ability to use a smart phone
  • Knowledge of construction supplies including lumber, windows, doors, and other building materials
  • Knowledge of the latest products, technologies, and construction procedures
  • Must have a reliable work vehicle
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • Adhere to Fresh Start Contracting’s “Code of Conduct” presenting professional image in dress, grooming, and demeanor


Job Type: Full-time, Salaried
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year

  • Burlington, MA 01803: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYWorks with the Project Managers on the job strategy and schedule. Communicates with client on a consistent basis to ensure goals are being met (remove- and adjusts project work based on the needs of the client). (Remove- Oversees and manages the orders and budgeting of the job. Supervises and provides work direction to other carpenters, Apprentice Carpenters, Construction Laborers and sub-contractors on job site. Must be comfortable overseeing a job site as a representative of the general contractor). May give direction and guidance to field team or sub-contractors from time to time based on needs. Must be comfortable being a leader on a jobsite.
