Job Title: Laser Operator
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary
The Laser Operatoris responsible for operating and maintaining the laser cutting machines to produce high-quality metal components according to specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate laser cutting machines to cut sheet metal according to job specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine machine settings and material requirements.
- Select appropriate cutting programs and adjust machine settings to optimize cutting performance.
- Load and unload materials onto the laser machine, ensuring proper alignment and positioning.
- Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or deviations from specifications and make necessary adjustments.
- Perform Daily/Weekly preventive maintenance on laser equipment
- Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and deadlines.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed.
- Maintain neat, clean and orderly warehouse appearance.
- Ability to work extended hours/overtime as needed
- Adhere to all company policies and safety procedures and guidelines.
- Conform to all quality and safety procedures.
- Required to operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.
Required Qualifications or Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience operating laser cutting machines in a manufacturing environment. Preferred but willing to train.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers. Preferred but willing to train.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, climb and move about the facility
- Regularly required to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, reach & carry.
