About this opportunity

This safety sensitive position is responsible for supporting the Fleet Mechanic to ensure the safe repair, preventative maintenance, and tracking of all company vehicles in their district. This includes ensuring that the appropriate resources are available to meet customer service requirements.

What your role will look like

  • Collaborate with the Fleet Mechanic to conduct all necessary and appropriate preventative maintenance of company vehicles in a safe, timely, and competent manner.
  • Assist the Fleet Mechanic to safely and efficiently correct all deficiencies when reported by the operator of the company vehicle.
  • Complete and maintain all forms and paperwork including maintenance records and state inspection reports.
  • Utilize web-based platforms on tablet, smart phone, laptop, and desktop to manage workflow and record data.
  • Support Eastern’s policies and procedures, including by maintaining required licensure, meeting state, Department of Transportation (DOT), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) requirements, and complying with all applicable regulatory standards.
  • Remain alert and focused and complete work in a safe manner.
  • Maintain vehicle repair facility to ensure the premises are safe and orderly.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety by engaging in safety meetings, safety training, and safety refreshers, alerting supervisor to unsafe actions, and modeling safety-conscious practices.
  • Present a neat and clean appearance, including maintaining cleanliness of uniform.

What you’ll bring to this role

  • Education: High school diploma/GED
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year automotive industry experience and willingness to learn
  • Diesel and/or gas engine knowledge preferred
  • Preferred knowledge of and proficiency in the use of diagnostic test equipment necessary to safely maintain company vehicles
  • Experience with third-party software engine diagnostics
  • Submit to and pass Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol tests
  • Licenses/Certifications:
  • CDL Class B with all necessary endorsements preferred
