Job DescriptionPsychiatrist - Part-Time Reserve Officer Opportunity

We are looking for board-certified and licensed psychiatrists to join our team as part-time Reserve Officers. In this role, you will provide essential psychiatric care to military personnel, their families, and other eligible beneficiaries. This position offers a unique career trajectory, opportunities for global humanitarian missions, and the flexibility to maintain your civilian practice. Benefits include bonuses, comprehensive insurance, retirement plans, and access to military facilities and educational resources.

Residents who are currently matched and practicing in the U.S. are also encouraged to apply and may qualify for additional incentives.

As part of Navy Medicine, physicians can serve part-time while continuing their civilian careers. Navy physicians typically experience an expedited career path, addressing the medical needs of the courageous individuals who serve our nation, along with their families and other beneficiaries. This role carries significant responsibility and is a profound honor, with substantial rewards for those who rise to the occasion.

As a Reserve Officer, you will have the chance to travel while still maintaining your civilian practice, truly enjoying the best of both worlds. Your commitment will involve local drills one weekend each month, along with one two-week training period annually.

You will also have the opportunity to engage in humanitarian relief efforts both domestically and internationally, working alongside fellow military doctors and healthcare professionals, as well as partnering with global organizations.

To be eligible, candidates must be U.S. citizens, actively practicing medicine, and aged between 21 and 64. You will need to successfully complete the Navy's physical, legal, and security evaluations, as well as meet credentialing standards.

Incentives include:

  • Potential for sign-on bonuses or loan repayment options
  • Three-year deferment for involuntary deployment
  • Access to commissary, exchange, and base facilities
