YOUR DAY TO DAY:

Material planners manage the flow of materials to ensure timely production, optimizing inventory, and forecasting future needs. Key responsibilities include coordinating with suppliers, managing inventory levels, and analyzing demand to meet production targets.

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

  • Forecasting and Planning:
    • Analyze demand forecasts and production schedules to determine material requirements.
    • Develop and maintain material plans to ensure timely availability of materials.
    • Manage inventory levels to minimize costs and prevent stockouts.
  • Supplier Management:
    • Communicate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
    • Monitor supplier performance and identify potential issues.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and track material movement.
    • Identify and address potential inventory problems, such as obsolescence or excess inventory.
    • Implement and maintain effective inventory control systems.
  • Production Support:
    • Work closely with production and operations teams to ensure smooth material flow.
    • Identify and resolve material-related issues that may impact production.
    • Provide data and reports to support decision-making.
  • Perform other duties as needed and assigned.

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering or related field.
  • APICS Certification preferred.
  • 4-6 years of current experience win materials planning, inventory management, or supply chain roles.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of MRP Systems: Experience with Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) systems in a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to utilize data-driven decision making to enable effective planning and execution.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for working with various department and suppliers.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve material planning issues.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organization skills are needed to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a collaborative Business unit team environment.
  • Experience: Experience in materials planning, supply chain management, or a related field is required.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Oracle) and inventory management software and Microsoft Excel.
  • U.S. Citizenship and are able to obtain/maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance.
