JOB PURPOSE:

The Quality Inspector will ensure the products are manufactured in compliance with company, customer, and Safe Quality Food (SQF) requirements. The Quality Inspector will conduct visual and measurement inspections and testing of materials and products, both in-process and final inspections. Job duties include documenting inspection results and non-conformances.

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct visual inspections and measurements of the products to ensure that they meet the required quality standards and specifications.
  • Calibrate measuring equipment.
  • Verify finished product is packaged to specifications.
  • Report quality issues to the operator and supervisor.
  • Monitor and control non-conforming material.
  • Provide data and inspection results to management and prepare quality reports.
  • Train new employees in quality and how to perform any related job duties effectively.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience in a quality position in a manufacturing environment
    Strong attention-to-detail
  • Computer Skills: ability to understand and perform some job tasks using Microsoft-based applications
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
  • Ability to follow established procedures and instructions
  • Ability to accomplish tasks in a timely manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a group
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment

SKILLS:

  • Proficient in performing visual and dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Ability to document inspection results accurately and prepare standard quality reports.
    Knowledge of SQF, GMP, and basic quality systems procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to detect product defects.
  • Good communication skills to report findings and train operators.
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry and recordkeeping (MS Office).
  • Ability to follow work instructions, specifications, and quality checklists.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to stand for extended periods during shift.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand motions for inspection tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
  • Requires visual acuity to read small print and inspect product details.
  • Work performed on a manufacturing floor with exposure to moderate noise, moving machinery, and temperature variations.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and hairnets required.
