Job Description

Job DescriptionBuild what’s next at Teknor Apex

From a single tire shop opened by Alfred Fain in 1924 to a global custom compounding leader with operations across the U.S., Belgium, Singapore, Germany, and China—Teknor Apex has grown while staying true to its family roots. Still privately held and led by the Fain family, we believe strong relationships power great manufacturing. As Jon Fain says, “Manufacturing is a team sport and we work together to achieve our goals.”

A night in the life

At 11:00 p.m., you join a quick handoff with production, review work orders, and gear up with PPE. Through the shift, you move between planned maintenance and rapid troubleshooting—keeping mechanical machines and process equipment running safely and efficiently. You collaborate with operators, share insights, and document work in our systems. Before 7:00 a.m., you button up precision tasks—maybe a pipefit, a weld, a rigging assist, or a lubrication route—so the day team starts strong.

What you’ll do

  • Champion safety in every task; follow all site policies and procedures.
  • Communicate clearly, collaborate cross-functionally, and offer/receive constructive feedback with professionalism.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and process equipment; prioritize work based on production needs.
  • Analyze site-wide technical issues and drive effective, timely resolutions.
  • Stay self-directed and results-focused while adapting to changing priorities.
  • Continuously build skills; embrace new tools, technologies, and methods.
  • Use computer software to manage work orders, documentation, and parts.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts.
  • Perform precision tasks including welding, pipefitting, rigging, and lubrication.
  • Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and consistent attendance.

What you bring

  • High school diploma/GED required; a 2-year technical or vocational degree strongly preferred.
  • Approximately 4+ years of relevant experience (e.g., general mechanic, pipefitter, chemical manufacturing, refinery) preferred.
  • Background as a millwright and/or precision mechanic is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical components, motors, and controls.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend documentation in English preferred.
  • Comfort wearing required PPE: earplugs, gloves, safety glasses, hardhat, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Physical capability to stand, climb stairs, twist, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb for extended periods and to lift/move up to 45 lbs.

Schedule

3rd shift: 11:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
