Job DescriptionThe Production Inspection Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all in-process and final product inspection activities on the production floor. This role ensures that products meet defined quality standards and specifications, inspection staff are properly trained, and inspection processes are executed in compliance with applicable procedures and regulations. The supervisor serves as a key liaison between Quality, Production, and Engineering to support continuous improvement and effective issue resolution.Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise day-to-day activities of production inspection staff across shifts, ensuring adequate coverage and efficient workflow.
- Assign inspection tasks, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to inspection procedures, quality standards, and safety protocols.
- Provide training and guidance to inspection personnel on product specifications, measurement techniques, and use of inspection tools and equipment.
- Collaborate with Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, and other departments to address quality issues, nonconformances, and process improvements.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of inspection documentation, including inspection records, NCRs, and device history records (DHRs).
- Support implementation of inspection plans, sampling plans, and quality control procedures.
- Participate in root cause investigations for product nonconformances and support the execution of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
- Maintain calibration and readiness of inspection tools and equipment.
- Monitor and report inspection metrics and quality trends to management.
- Support internal and external audits, including FDA, ISO, and customer audits.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing quality inspection, preferably in a regulated industry (e.g., medical device, aerospace, automotive).
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of inspection methods, visual and dimensional inspection, and quality standards.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
- Proficient in the use of inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and optical measurement equipment.
- Working knowledge of QMS requirements (e.g., ISO 13485, 21 CFR 820) and documentation practices.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team in a fast-paced production environment.
