Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An Emergency Room Registered Nurse role is available in Northfield, VT, supporting a critical access hospital's 10-14 bed Emergency Department. This contract position offers an opportunity to work within a team of experienced RNs and ED techs providing care for patients ranging from newborns to geriatric, across a busy rural setting.

Responsibilities include:

  • Applying ESI triage scale and performing patient assessments
  • Administering drips and infusions, starting IVs, and conducting EKGs
  • Managing patient transports including occasional ambulance rides
  • Utilizing documentation systems and medication dispensing tools
  • Collaborating with physicians, mid-level providers, and respiratory therapists
  • Responding to emergency situations including STEMI, stroke, and trauma transfers
  • Participating in telemedicine consultations for specialized care support

Desired qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as an RN, with at least 2 years in Emergency Nursing
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing contract preferred
  • Current certifications such as ACLS, ENPC or PALS, TNCC, NRP, and NIHSS are preferred
  • Experience with charge nurse duties, precepting colleagues, and transport incidents advantageous
  • Comfort working in a rural or critical access hospital setting highly valued

Shift schedule includes 12-hour rotations covering days, evenings, nights, and holidays to ensure continuous care.
