Job Description

The Surgical Scheduling Coordinator is tasked with scheduling Mohs surgeries, updating the pathology log, contacting patients with benign and malignant results, addressing phone notes and patient inquiries, and providing pre- and post-operative education related to Mohs surgical procedures. This role requires promoting a friendly and efficient environment for patients, staff, and dermatologists. Additionally, the coordinator will check patients in and out, collect copayments, and manage visit balances.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for surgical patients and, under the supervision of a physician, assess patient needs for advice or care.
  • Communicate with patients in a thorough, professional, and compassionate manner to educate them about their dermatological conditions.
  • Schedule patient appointments following standard procedures and appointment templates.
  • Document patient medical records, including medications and allergies, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Complete surgical consent forms, lab orders, and patient forms promptly.
  • Maintain patient logs such as biopsy and laboratory test logs.
  • Assist patients with EHR patient portal registration.
  • Continually learn and explain new and existing dermatological conditions.
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Familiarity with medical terminology

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Proficiency with NextGen and EMA
  • Basic medical knowledge
  • Patient care experience

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of recent experience in a medical office in a similar capacity is preferred.
  • Previous dermatology scheduling experience is a plus.
  • Experience with NextGen, EMA, or Phreesia is a plus.
  • Ambulatory surgical scheduling experience is a plus.
  • Comfortable with inbound and outbound phone work, including calling patients with results.
  • Willingness to travel to other clinic locations as needed.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Professional conduct and confidentiality in all matters.

Work Environment

This role is situated in a specialty medical practice and requires being onsite five days a week, Monday through Friday, from 7:45 am to 5:00 pm.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portsmouth, NH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
