New England Orthopedic Surgeons (NEOS) is the region’s leading orthopedic private practice, recognized for providing exceptional musculoskeletal care through a team-based, patient-first approach. We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthopedic Technician (Cast Tech) to join our clinical support team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Medical Assistant, DME Specialist, or Athletic Trainer looking to grow in a specialized orthopedic setting.

Position Summary
The Orthopedic Technician supports physicians and clinical staff in providing hands-on orthopedic care. The ideal candidate will have experience in the application, adjustment, and removal of orthopedic devices such as casts, splints, and braces. This role is essential in promoting patient comfort and safety while ensuring high-quality, efficient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply, adjust, and remove orthopedic devices (casts, splints, braces, etc.) per physician instructions

  • Assist physicians with complex casting techniques

  • Educate patients and caregivers on device care and maintenance

  • Perform suture/staple removal, dressing changes, and basic wound care under supervision

  • Fit and measure patients for orthopedic appliances ensuring proper function and comfort

  • Maintain inventory of casting materials, DME, and related supplies

  • Clean and sterilize equipment and work areas per infection control protocols

  • Collaborate with the clinical team to support a smooth, positive patient experience

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Experience in cast application and removal

  • Knowledge of orthopedic anatomy and immobilization techniques

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience applying orthopedic devices in a clinical or sports medicine setting

  • Experience fitting braces/supports for sports injuries or foot/hand conditions

  • Certification as an Orthopedic Technologist (ASOP or NBCOT) preferred
