JOB SUMMARY The Machine Operator I is responsible for the set-up and operation of mechanical and hydraulic equipment—including brakes, presses, shears, turret punch presses, grinders, and spot welders—to fabricate components for product assemblies. This role ensures production meets customer demands while maintaining quality standards, performing basic preventative maintenance, and keeping accurate records.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate fabrication machinery to produce components according to specifications.
- Perform first-piece inspections and monitor equipment conditions.
- Maintain equipment and perform housekeeping duties as necessary.
- Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety rules and work instructions.
- Assist team in achieving plant and department goals.
- Support on-the-job training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative environment aligned with company goals and philosophies.
- Follow Eaton Quality Management System (EQMS) procedures.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
- Minimum 6 months of experience in machine operation or fabrication in a light to medium industrial manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Frequent standing and bending; ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Basic understanding of shop math and measuring tools (calipers, measuring tape, variable gauges).
- Basic computer skills (Windows operating systems and programs).
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to read and understand formal, informal, or engineering drawings.
- Ability to change tooling and tooling parameters.
- Problem-solving skills and good judgment to make informed decisions.
