Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled Part-Time Trial Attorney to provide expert litigation support for two upcoming cases. This contract role involves guiding and mentoring attorneys through trial preparation while ensuring effective courtroom strategies. Based in Milford, Massachusetts, this position offers a unique opportunity to leverage your trial experience and support a collaborative legal team.
Responsibilities:
• Offer strategic advice on trial preparation, including crafting opening statements, closing arguments, and witness examination techniques.
• Assist in forming effective questions for witnesses and ensure adherence to court rules and evidence procedures.
• Review evidentiary issues, providing insights on admissibility, objections, and exhibit foundations.
• Attend pre-trial conferences to provide guidance on trial logistics and case preparation.
• Provide hands-on support during trial dates and pre-trial proceedings as scheduled.
• Mentor attorneys who are less experienced in trial practices, boosting their confidence and skills.
• Collaborate on discovery processes and ensure compliance with Massachusetts Rules of Evidence and Civil Procedure.
• Support courtroom proceedings with a focus on delivering effective litigation strategies.
• Monitor trial calendars and assist in the coordination of schedules for case-related activities.
• Facilitate hybrid support, including in-person court dates and remote trial preparation as needed.• Juris Doctor (JD) degree with an active bar license in Massachusetts.
• Minimum of 5 years of substantive trial experience, including courtroom leadership.
• Strong understanding of Massachusetts Rules of Evidence and Civil Procedure.
• Proven ability to mentor and guide attorneys new to trial practices.
• Availability to attend scheduled trial activities, pre-trial conferences, and discovery processes.
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
• Experience in crafting opening statements, managing witness examinations, and delivering closing arguments.
• Ability to work effectively with attorneys of varying experience levels.
