Job Description

Hackett Feinberg P.C., a 25+ attorney Boston law firm, is seeking a mid-level associate with 5+ years’ experience to join our busy commercial lending, real estate, affordable housing, and loan workout practice. This attorney should preferably have experience in at least one of these practice areas to be considered a viable candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review the lender’s credit approval requirements and prepare loan documents for the transaction
  • Determine necessary due diligence searches and review results
  • Review and negotiate lender’s title insurance policies for real estate collateral
  • Determine and arrange proper perfection of lender’s security interest in personal property collateral in accordance with the requirements of the Uniform Commercial Code
  • Negotiate loan documents with Borrower’s counsel and other third parties involved in the collateral
  • Prepare and negotiate Subordination, Non-disturbance and Attornment Agreements with respect to tenants for commercial real estate collateral
  • Review organizational and other authority documents related to transaction
  • Prepare and/or review and negotiate zoning and land use opinions related to real estate collateral
  • Prepare and/or review and negotiate intercreditor agreements with subordinate and mezzanine lenders
  • Prepare forbearance, loan modification and settlement documentation related to troubled loan workouts
  • Prepare and negotiate participation and syndication agreements with other lenders


What We’re Looking For:

  • Individuals with the ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Available to work in Boston, Massachusetts on a hybrid work schedule, with some remote and some in-office work.
  • Enthusiastic and responsive team players with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to take on new tasks and responsibilities as the firm grows.
  • Member of the Massachusetts state bar.
  • Experience in commercial lending, commercial real estate finance or affordable housing transactions, or loan workouts.
  • A desire to participate in client development efforts and develop into a business originator at some point.
