Our Turners Falls Client is looking for a CNC Department Manager
The CNC Department Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of CNC operations, including personnel management, equipment utilization, production efficiency, and quality assurance. This role ensures departmental goals are met while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage daily CNC operations including machine setup.
- Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and planning departments to ensure seamless workflow
- Monitor product quality and ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team leads to communicate operational changes and expectations to CNC operators.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.
- Maintain equipment readiness through preventive maintenance planning and execution.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety protocols.
- Support career development and training initiatives for CNC personnel.
- Supervisor, train and evaluate CNC Operators across multiple shifts
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience managing a CNC machine shop, including leadership of multi-shift operations
- Demonstrated expertise in CNC programming (G-code, M-code)
- Hands-on experience with CNC Swiss turning machines, mills, and lathes.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T, and precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers)
- Proven ability to manage production schedules, tooling, and equipment utilization.
- Experience implementing continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Certifications such as OSHA 10, forklift license, or supervisory training are a plus.
- HS Diploma or equivalent required.
