Manufacturing Engineering Support Specialist


Location: Southbridge, MA (Onsite)
Contract: 6 months
Pay Rate: $40–$50/hr DOE

Our client in Southbridge, MA is seeking Manufacturing Engineering Support Specialists to join their engineering team. This role is hands-on, collaborative, and critical to supporting production through defect diagnosis, process analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. SolidWorks proficiency is required to create and update models and drawings, as well as to provide CAD support across the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for developing, improving, and optimizing manufacturing processes.
  • Verify that processes are correctly defined, documented, and executed on the production floor.
  • Create and revise process specifications, material specifications, manufacturing drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Support the design and documentation of tooling, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Utilize SolidWorks to design fixtures and generate/modify manufacturing drawings.
  • Recommend and implement engineering changes, ensuring all related documentation is updated.
  • Troubleshoot production and material issues, delivering both immediate fixes and long-term improvement solutions.
  • Perform microscopy and metrology tasks using optical, digital, and SEM tools to analyze surfaces and defects.
  • Apply materials science knowledge across metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites within manufacturing applications.
  • Work with advanced and conventional manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing.
  • Conduct root-cause investigations using methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone, 5-Whys, and FMEA.
  • Analyze process data and perform statistical modeling using JMP, Excel, or similar tools for capability studies and root-cause analysis.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of experience, training, or coursework.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering role.
  • Demonstrated ability to support manufacturing product and process improvements.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SolidWorks.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical mindset and disciplined problem-solving abilities.
  • U.S. Citizenship may be required based on the nature of work performed at the facility
