We are current seeking a detail - oriented, motivated, and compassionate Ophthalmic assistant to join our team.
Job Summary:
The Ophthalmic Assistant will assist our ophthalmologists in providing high-quality patient care. This role involves performing preliminary eye exams, gathering patient history, and assisting with diagnostic tests and procedures. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient intake, including medical history, chief complaints, and medication review
- Perform visual acuity tests, refractions, tonometry, and other basic eye assessment
- Assist with diagnostic tests and imaging, such as OCT, visual fields, and fundus photography
- Educate patients on eye care, pre- and post-operative instructions, and treatment plans
- Maintain and sanitize equipment and examination rooms
- Prepare and assist patients during minor in-office procedures
- Accurately document patient information in electronic health records (EHR)
- Provide support with scheduling, follow-up appointments, and other clerical tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited ophthalmic assistant program preferred
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification is a plus
- Previous experience as an ophthalmic assistant or in a healthcare setting is preferred
- Knowledge of basic eye care procedures and medical terminology
- Proficiency in using EHR systems and basic computer applications
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

Schedule : Monday - Friday (Full time)
