We are current seeking a detail - oriented, motivated, and compassionate Ophthalmic assistant to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Ophthalmic Assistant will assist our ophthalmologists in providing high-quality patient care. This role involves performing preliminary eye exams, gathering patient history, and assisting with diagnostic tests and procedures. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient intake, including medical history, chief complaints, and medication review
  • Perform visual acuity tests, refractions, tonometry, and other basic eye assessment
  • Assist with diagnostic tests and imaging, such as OCT, visual fields, and fundus photography
  • Educate patients on eye care, pre- and post-operative instructions, and treatment plans
  • Maintain and sanitize equipment and examination rooms
  • Prepare and assist patients during minor in-office procedures
  • Accurately document patient information in electronic health records (EHR)
  • Provide support with scheduling, follow-up appointments, and other clerical tasks as needed

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited ophthalmic assistant program preferred
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification is a plus
  • Previous experience as an ophthalmic assistant or in a healthcare setting is preferred
  • Knowledge of basic eye care procedures and medical terminology
  • Proficiency in using EHR systems and basic computer applications
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
