Job Description
The Fabrication Shop Manager will lead and develop the people and processes associated
within the Fab Shop. Develop and ensure the achievement of shop’s goals related to quality,
cost, delivery, safety, and morale. Build and refine processes to ensure overall shop system
excellence.
$65,000 - $80,000 annually

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Develop and lead Shop personnel through active coaching
• Develop training programs for cross-training of manufacturing personnel
• Actively engages with employees on the production floor on a regular basis
• Facilitate communication and develop a shared vision within the team
• Establish and maintain a positive and supportive work environment
• Proactively develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with and between all
departments
• Proposes & assists in capacity planning, and training methods for production staff.
• Familiar and comfortable, with a quality management system
• Establish production targets and metrics
• Develop tools, processes, and communication channels to ensure on time delivery
• Participate in new product development teams to support the delivery of new products on
schedule
• Develop and ensure production follows appropriate workflow and methods
• Establish and implement lean manufacturing initiatives that achieve improved business
results
• Take a process view towards problem solving and improvements
• Assist with the planning and directing of equipment and production cell layout
• Effectively manage costs and identify opportunities for increased efficiencies

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Participates in the hiring and training of Shop personnel.
• Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of Shop team members.
• Completes performance evaluations in a timely and constructive manner.
• Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with
company policy.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Superior managerial and diplomacy skills.
• Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Education and Experience:
• Extensive and diversified background with at least 10 years of related experience.
• Prior leadership experience (5 years?)
• Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
• Outstanding communication and people skills
• Knowledge of industry’s legal rules and guidelines

Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift 70 pounds at times.
