Job Description

Join GAAMHA as a Senior PBS Clinician!

Location: Based in Gardner, MA – Serving Multiple GAAMHA Programs

Are you a values-driven clinician who believes that Positive Behavior Support (PBS) should be individualized, strengths-based, and rooted in dignity and respect? GAAMHA is seeking an experienced Senior PBS Clinician to provide clinical leadership and behavioral consultation across multiple day programs, including our new Community-Based Enrichment Services (CBES) program in Leominster, which supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

This is more than a clinical role — it’s an opportunity to help shape and elevate agency-wide practices that ensure compassionate, consistent, and person-centered behavior supports across diverse settings. You’ll collaborate directly with individuals, teams, and leadership to design, implement, and monitor strategies that foster growth, safety, and full participation in community life.

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee behavioral supports across multiple programs, ensuring a cohesive, high-quality approach to Positive Behavior Support.

  • Conduct comprehensive behavioral assessments and direct observations to understand each individual’s unique needs and strengths.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) that are practical, respectful, and aligned with personal goals.

  • Analyze behavioral data and trends, providing clear, actionable feedback to teams and leadership.

  • Revise and update PBSPs as individuals grow and their needs evolve.

  • Provide hands-on training and coaching for staff in all relevant programs, building team confidence and competence in PBS practices.

  • Support staff in proactive, trauma-informed approaches to prevent and de-escalate challenging behaviors.

  • Design and deliver in-service trainings that enhance staff understanding of behavior, communication, trauma, and person-centered supports.

  • Develop data collection tools that are meaningful, user-friendly, and aligned with individual objectives.

  • Participate in intake and transition planning for new referrals, including clinical reviews and observations to ensure appropriate placement and support.

  • Attend ISP meetings, interdisciplinary team meetings, and progress reviews for individuals served across multiple programs.

  • Serve as a core member of GAAMHA’s PBS Leadership Team, working collaboratively to elevate and standardize PBS practices across the agency.

  • Maintain open, professional communication with families, guardians, care teams, and external partners.

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of GAAMHA’s mission.

Who You Are:

A Senior PBS Qualified Clinician is defined as:

  1. A PBS Qualified Clinician as described in 115 CMR 5.14(10)(a);

  1. Has training in PBS, organizational strategies, and multi-tiered systems of support;

  1. Has at least five years of training — including post-graduate coursework or formal training — and/or experience in function-based behavioral assessment and treatment;

  1. Has at least five years of clinical experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities; and

  1. Is able to perform all duties of a PBS Qualified Clinician under 115 CMR 5.14(10)(c).

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold a current Massachusetts license as one of the following: Psychologist; Independent Clinical Social Worker; Applied Behavior Analyst; Master’s or Doctorate-Level Speech Pathologist; Physician; Special Education Teacher (Master’s or Doctorate) actively teaching PBS or ABA; or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (travel between sites is required).

  • Successful completion of CORI, fingerprinting, and all other required background checks.
