Programs Team

BAGLYs Programs Team includes staff, youth and young adult Peer Leaders, and volunteers. BAGLYs three core programs are:

  1. Health & Wellness
  2. Stabilization & Success
  3. Youth Leadership & Advocacy


All three programs are supported by BAGLYs 10,000-square-foot Downtown Boston Community Center. The Center includes activities, events, peer-led social support meetings, parties, and more in addition to programming and services related to each program. BAGLY also supports the AGLY Network, a consortium of 15 community-based LGBTQ+ youth groups throughout Massachusetts.


Health & Wellness Program

BAGLYs Health & Wellness (H&W) Program seeks to reduce health disparities among LGBTQ+ youth and young adults through three core strategies:

  1. Prevention & Education
  2. On-Site HIV/STI Testing & Referrals to Care (approx. 5-8 clients/week)
  3. Behavioral Health Services


Position Overview

The H&W Program Coordinator (Coordinator), reporting directly to the H&W Program Manager (Manager), implements H&W Program activities, provides programmatic administrative support, and staffs drop-in hours at the Community Center as well as on- and off-site events.


The Coordinator works closely with Programs staff, colleagues throughout the organization, and youth leaders to ensure the success of BAGLY events (e.g., Halloween Party, MA Youth Pride, Trans Youth Summit) and community partnerships.


This position will operate on-site at BAGLYs Downtown Boston Community Center. Evenings are required to staff drop-in hours (currently Monday through Friday, with plans to extend to Saturdays). Occasional weekends are also required. This position includes travel inside the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and requires a current MA drivers license.


Duties & Responsibilities


General H&W Program Implementation

  • Provide programmatic and administrative support for H&W activities.
  • Facilitate trainings for Adult Advisor volunteers.
  • Collect, input, clean, and monitor qualitative and quantitative program data, and provide regular reports to Manager.


Prevention & Education

  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and supervision of Health Education & Risk Reduction Team (HEARRT) youth Peer Leaders.
  • Support HEARRT in planning, implementing, and evaluating peer-to-peer workshops, trainings, and events.


On-Site HIV/STI Testing & Referrals to Care (CLINIC)

  • Serve as BAGLYs primary tester and phlebotomist. The Coordinator sees approximately 5-8 clients per week.
  • Support compliance with requirements for HIV/STI testing, including specimen collection, privacy and data tracking, and referrals.
  • Manage intake process, appointment scheduling and communication with clients.


Behavioral Health

  • Support youth and young adults in navigating behavioral health resources, both internally and externally.
  • Connect and coordinate young peoples access to Short Term Therapy, Tea Time and Group Therapy offerings (internal resources) and referrals to external partners when appropriate.


Community Center & Drop-In Support

  • With other Program Team members, staff the Community Center during drop-in hours and at off-site events.
  • Build supportive relationships with youth.
  • Support youth in navigating BAGLY resources, services, and activities (e.g., helping youth access the supportive supplies closet or BAGLY Boutique).
  • Support youth and staff in upholding rules and community agreements.
  • With other Program Coordinators and Peer Leaders, project manage, oversee, and help implement Community Center events.


General Program Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Submit marketing, communications, and purchase requests to other teams as needed.
  • Disseminate opportunities to BAGLY and AGLY Network youth and staff.
  • Collaborate with Development & Marketing staff and youth Peer Leaders to plan outreach and marketing strategies for activities and events.
  • Support community partnerships.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration amongst all BAGLY Coordinators.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Ideal candidates will demonstrate capabilities that meet the basic qualifications. Advanced qualifications are a plus, but not required.


Education

Relevant academic and/or professional experience required. Bachelors degree preferred.


Basic Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of and commitment to BAGLYs mission and values.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the current and emerging health needs of LGBTQ+ youth, risk- and harm-reduction frameworks, and sex positivity.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing programs, activities, or events.
  • Willingness to receive phlebotomy certification in the first 3 months of employment.
  • Comfort supporting youth and young adults with learning about and navigating decision-making around health topics, including sexual health, substance use, and mental health.
  • Demonstrated ability to build supportive relationships and establish and maintain appropriate boundaries with youth and/or young adults.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating trainings or workshops and/or providing one-on-one coaching or guidance to youth and/or young adults.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing a work plan, meeting goals and deliverables, and completing detail-oriented tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to professionally represent an organization or program, including through verbal and written communication.


Advanced Qualifications

  • Highly relevant content knowledge, such as health education, HIV/STI testing, or phlebotomy certification.
  • Demonstrated experience providing HIV and/or STI testing and counseling.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and/or facilitating health education workshops, trainings, events, or curricula.
  • Demonstrated success working in a community center or drop-in space.
  • Demonstrated experience hiring, onboarding, training, and supervising youth Peer Leaders or adult volunteers.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting youth experiencing complex challenges, including providing supportive referrals.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting marketing and outreach to engage youth.
  • Demonstrated experience with event planning and management.
  • Fluency in one or more languages other than English.


Budgeted Starting Salary Range

$50,000 - $55,000


The starting salary will be determined based on how many basic and advanced qualifications are demonstrated.
