Job DescriptionDescriptionJob Title: Association Lifeguard/Swim Instructor Trainer Location: Greater Boston- Charlestown, Chinatown, Dorchester, East Boston, Boston, Hyde Park, Needham, Oak Square, Reading, Roxbury, Waltham, West Roxbury, Woburn Reports To: Vice President of Operations Classification: Part Time, Non-Exempt Position Summary: Under the supervision of the VP of Operations, this position teaches Aquatics safety and certifies positions required by the YMCA. Providing quality and consistency to all employees, the Trainer will instruct on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, teaching lifesaving skills. Certified by the YMCA, you work independently to teach the techniques of Lifeguarding, Swim Instructor, CPR, First-Aid and Oxygen through the YMCA. *Must have active YMCA Instructor and 02 YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Training
Key ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities and Duties:
- Meets with Aquatics employees early in employment for certification.
- Assembles classroom to meet required guidelines.
- Instructs various YMCA training courses in accordance with all required parameters.
- Issues and collects all required paperwork in accordance with association procedures and files accordingly.
- Issues various certification cards following all company policies and procedures.
- Adheres to all YGB pool rules and policies, and MA DPH requirements.
- Knows and activates the center and pool EAP when needed.
- Ensures compliance with all YMCA safety standards and best practices, and regulatory health and safety requirements in the aquatic facilities.
- Prevent emergencies by scanning the pool in a continuous and consistent manner.
- Recognize emergencies or potential incidents and address them immediately.
- Know and activate the center and pool EAP when needed.
- Performs, assists or rescues as needed.
- Provide care such as, CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen as needed.
Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseQualifications:
- High School Diploma or greater.
- Must currently possess, YMCA LGI, YMCA YSL/T & American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) Instructor level certifications.
- Participate in all center safety and quality drills.
- Attends all required in-service trainings and any additional trainings as required.
- Ability to speak confidently and conduct lifesaving courses as a lead instructor.
- Ability to lift 30 or more pounds independently.
- Must be enthusiastic, responsible, articulate and well organized.
- Must have flexibility in various work environments and be willing to travel locally.
- Successful completion of Pre-Employment Screening background check.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. This position is continually active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching. The position may require occasional lifting of products weighing up to 30 pounds.
