Mechanical Product Design Engineer

ST Equipment & Technology LLC, Needham, MA

ST Equipment & Technology (STET) is the developer of a proprietary separation technology used to process dry powders such as fly ash, mineral ores, food/ feed powders, by triboelectrically charging and separating particles in a strong electric field. STET is a part of Titan America group.

ST Equipment & Technology LLC has an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Product Design Engineer at the Needham, MA location. The primary objective is to be responsible for designing and developing new equipment, improving existing equipment design, and providing engineering support to the manufacturing and process development teams.


Responsibilities

· Collaborating with cross-functional teams from around the world, including engineering, manufacturing, quality, and business development, to define product requirements and specifications that are feasible and manufacturable and deliver them on schedule at the right cost.

· Conceptualizing and designing new products that meet customer needs and company requirements.

· Developing and improving existing products by analyzing feedback, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing design changes.

· Creating 3D models, drawings, and prototypes using SolidWorks computer-aided design software.

· Conducting simulations and tests to validate product designs and ensure they meet safety, performance, and reliability standards.

· Iterating designs based on feedback, testing and optimization.

· Managing projects to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality products.

· Conducting research on new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to incorporate into product designs.

· Preparing technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, and bills of materials.

· Providing technical support to manufacturing teams to ensure products are produced to the correct specifications.

· Participating in design reviews and contributing creative ideas to solve complex engineering challenges.

· Analyzing and solving technical problems that arise during the product design and manufacturing process.

· Keeping up to date with industry trends, regulations, and standards to ensure product designs comply with relevant requirements.


Qualification and Experience Required:

· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering

· Minimum of 5 years of experience in product design and manufacturing

· Expert level proficiency with SolidWorks CAD tools (3D modeling, drawings, and stress analysis)

· Good working knowledge and practical experience in the design, development, and manufacture of electro-mechanical devices.

· Experience with engineering design guidelines for CNC machining, sheet metal forming and plastic injection molding.

· Familiar with design for manufacturing assembly and serviceability.

· Creating budgets and timelines for each project

· Document problems and issues in our bug tracking database and ensure timely resolution.

· Experience with electro-mechanical designs and control systems

· Analyzing and testing existing products to identify areas for potential improvement.

· Collaborating with other Engineers, Designers, and Project Managers

· Familiarity with process control and statistical capability.

· Developing and building prototypes to test their function.

· Familiarity with manufacturing processes and materials selection.

· Experience with prototyping, testing, and the validation processes

· In-depth knowledge of industry design principles

· Sets SMART objectives and monitor’s progress.

· Shainin, DFSS or other technical structured problem-solving experience is a plus.

· Writing detailed operational procedures
