Job DescriptionDiscover Your Next Challenge at Oliver Inc.

Step into a place where craftsmanship meets cutting-edge technology. For more than 250 years, Oliver Inc. has supported brands with innovative printing and packaging from multiple production facilities, investing in state-of-the-art, sustainability-focused equipment. We move with speed, consistency, and nimbleness—and we’re passionate about our work, grounded in respect, and driven to provide creative solutions that build our customers’ brands. When you partner with Oliver, you partner with success.

A Day in the Life

Morning starts with a walk through the machine shop. You verify the safe operation of equipment, review maintenance logs, and plan preventive tasks on key presses. A press setup requires a trial run—you bring it up to speed, confirm performance and quality, then fine-tune. Midday, a production line goes down; you read the schematics, isolate the fault, and make a quick electrical and mechanical repair. Later, you rebuild a sub-assembly, update inventory on spare parts, and draft a purchase order for critical components. Before you wrap up, you help Facilities with a small carpentry fix and ensure everything’s ready for the next shift.

Core Responsibilities

  • Construct, maintain, and test electrical systems and components; install and repair production equipment.
  • Run trial operations of machinery to verify output against performance and quality standards.
  • Monitor safe and proper operation of equipment across the machine shop.
  • Support the repair, replacement, and upkeep of presses and other production assets, including assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot and perform both mechanical and electrical repairs on manufacturing machinery.
  • Read and interpret schematics, safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance documentation.
  • Manage spare parts and supplies; issue purchase orders when needed.
  • Execute routine and preventive maintenance on electromechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Assist with facilities projects as required (e.g., basic carpentry and general maintenance).

What You’ll Bring

  • Broad knowledge spanning electrical and mechanical/machining systems, plus strong troubleshooting ability.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in maintenance, repair, or a related technical role.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, safety standards, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Clear communication skills for collaborating with teammates, coordinating with vendors, and presenting in small groups.
  • Solid math skills (arithmetic, fractions, decimals).
  • Resourceful problem-solver who adapts to changing priorities.
  • Physical capability to stand and walk for full shifts, with some lifting and pulling.
