Position Overview
Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Technical Foreman will oversee daily operations, manages maintenance teams, maintain safety protocols, and ensure quality standards are meet. Responsible for implementing preventative maintenance strategies, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring optimal performance to support continuous production operations.
Typical activities include:
Responsibilities (This position will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and uptime of production equipment. This role involves):
- Project Management: Coordinate daily tasks based on priorities set by management, ensuring equipment and manufacturing projects are on schedule and within budget.
- Team Management: Assign tasks to workers, monitor performance, and address conflicts within the team.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and regulations on-site, conducting regular safety meetings and inspections.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure it meets the required standards, identifying and addressing defects.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of manufacturing between maintenance, machine shop, and outside contractor.
- Preventative Maintenance: Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime and extend the lifespan of machinery.
- Equipment Uptime: Monitor and ensure the continuous operation of production equipment, promptly addressing any issues to maintain high efficiency.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical problems with production equipment, coordinating with other team members as necessary.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repairs.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and train maintenance staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
- LEAN Training: Apply LEAN principles, particularly Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), to optimize maintenance processes and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working with production equipment.
- Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques and equipment troubleshooting.
- Experience with LEAN methodologies, specifically TPM.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Commitment to safety and compliance standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and in proximity to loud equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to see and respond to at-risk situations.
- Must be able to wear personal protective gear when in industrial locations.
- Must be able sit for longer periods of time as well as move about throughout the office and production, / laboratory environment.
