Job Description

Job DescriptionDescription:

Manufacturing Industrial Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a versatile and driven Manufacturing Industrial Engineer to serve as the bridge between product design, production execution, and systems optimization. This is an excellent opportunity for a "hands-on" engineer who is equally comfortable in SolidWorks and on the production floor. You will work to ensure that innovative designs are successfully transitioned into high-quality, efficiently manufactured products while learning to apply Industrial Engineering principles to improve throughput and cost-efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Product Design & Evaluation: Design, evaluate, and modify equipment based on Sales specifications; determine design approaches and parameters within time and cost constraints.
  • Industrial Engineering Support: Participate in time and motion studies to help establish production standards and identify bottlenecks. Learn to evaluate and implement sheet metal fabrication processes, including maintaining NC programs for sheet metal punches and lasers.
  • Continuous Improvement: Assist with Lean manufacturing initiatives to reduce waste and improve throughput. Contribute to recommendations for changes to facility layouts, workflows, and assembly sequences.
  • CAD & Technical Documentation: Create and maintain 3D CAD models and drawings; ensure all sheet metal designs are optimized for manufacturing (DFM).
  • Engineering Records: Maintain accurate records, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), work instructions, assemble-to-order records, and service instructions.
  • Testing & Analysis: Conduct experimental tests, evaluate results, and perform Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) to ensure product reliability.
  • Production Support: Support other engineering staff in moving projects from the design phase to full-scale production; troubleshoot mechanical and electrical manufacturing issues on the floor.
  • Prototyping: Fabricate and assemble prototypes using hand and power tools to validate design concepts and production feasibility.

Qualifications and Essential Functions

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering. (New graduates are encouraged to apply).
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.) is required. Ability to learn NC machine programming and machine tooling.
  • IE Methodology: Interest in or basic exposure to Industrial Engineering tools, such as time studies, value stream mapping, or statistical process control (SPC).
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Basic understanding of sheet metal fabrication, thermodynamics, and general manufacturing processes.
  • Tools & Instrumentation: Ability to work with hand/power tools and an interest in learning to use various test instrumentation.
  • Systems Experience: Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with or ability to learn ERP business systems (like INFOR CSI).
  • Professionalism: Strong communication skills and a desire to collaborate in multi-functional project teams.
  • Physical Requirements: Able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and perform tasks in a manufacturing environment.
  • Work Ethic: Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to manage tasks with growing independence.

Preferred Experience/Skills

  • Previous internship or work experience in a manufacturing or sheet metal environment.
  • Experience with SolidWorks 3D modeling.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing concepts or Six Sigma principles.
  • Familiarity with Infor CloudSuite Industrial (CSI).

Compensation & Benefits

Annual Salary: $75,000

We Offer: A supportive and team-oriented environment, competitive salary, health, dental and vision plans, 401k and ROTH with company match, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, wellness programs, and tuition reimbursement.
