Advanced Practice Provider (Oncology) – Central Vermont
Join a collaborative and patient-focused cancer care team in the heart of Vermont, just minutes from the scenic Green Mountains and year-round outdoor activities. This full-time Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) position offers the opportunity to work in a comprehensive community cancer center, providing care across outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and telehealth settings. With a Monday–Friday daytime schedule and only one weekend per month on call, you’ll enjoy a balanced work-life while making a meaningful difference for patients and families facing cancer diagnoses.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other specialists to deliver patient- and family-centered oncology care
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories and physical exams
- Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic studies such as labs, X-rays, and ECGs
- Provide therapeutic interventions including injections, wound care, and medication administration
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, home care, and health maintenance
- Participate in surgical or procedural support as needed
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
- Provide coverage across cancer clinic, inpatient units, emergency consults, and telehealth as needed
- Participate in weekend call rotation (one weekend per month)
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (NP) or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current Vermont licensure (or eligibility) with national board certification
- At least 2 years of NP or PA experience in oncology or another relevant specialty strongly preferred
- Current ACLS, PALS, and other unit-specific certifications as required
- Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications
