Job Description\n
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift Stepdown Unit position requiring Epic proficiency and flexibility to work in a brand new unit.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Stepdown Unit in a hospital setting
- 12-bed brand new unit with an average daily census of 11
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3
- Main patient diagnoses include respiratory failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, sepsis, post-surgical neuro and cardiothoracic care, stable single organ trauma, and stroke
- Special procedures include arterial/central line management, telemetry, Bipap/High Flow, epicardial wires, and chest tubes
- Uses Epic for documentation and Omnicell for medications
- Night shifts (3x12 hours) from 19:00 to 07:00
- Every other weekend required
- Floating expected to ICU and ED for 'helping hands' but primary assignment remains stepdown unit
- Lifts in every room, noninvasive fluid management system, and telemetry monitoring available
- Must be flexible and prepared to adapt to processes in a newly opened unit
- Team nursing and 'helping hands' approach with possible floating to ICU and ED for support tasks
- Patient sitting may be assigned as needed
- 36-hour orientation provided
- Any color scrubs permitted
- Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate if living within 50 miles of the facility
\n \n Requirements\n
- Active NH or compact RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of stepdown or ICU RN experience
- Epic EMR experience required
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS (AHA or Red Cross only)
- Professional references required; second reference may be submitted after start
- First-time travelers not accepted
- Former employees of facilities associated with SolutionHealth are not eligible
