A professional nursing opportunity is available in a cardiac step-down unit providing comprehensive care for patients in a specialized medical setting. This contract position offers a chance to work in a dynamic environment catering to cardiac, medical-surgical telemetry, and stroke overflow patients, with advanced procedures and technology at your disposal.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct nursing care to patients in the cardiac step-down unit, managing complex cardiac conditions and medical-surgical telemetry.
  • Monitor patient status using telemetry equipment and specialized medical devices such as IV pumps, hi-flow oxygen systems, BiPAP, and pacemakers.
  • Perform advanced clinical procedures including thoracentesis, peritoneal dialysis, tracheostomy care, cardiac catheterization support, and CIWA assessments.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care and adherence to unit policies.
  • Utilize Meditech Expanse for accurate and timely documentation and communication.
  • Adhere to established patient ratios (5:1) promoting safe and effective care delivery.
  • Participate in bedside shift rounds and handoff protocols to support continuity of care.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with current licensure.
  • Proficient in telemetry monitoring and interpretation.
  • Experience with cardiac care management preferred.
  • Certifications required: Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Ability to follow professional dress code and unit policies.

Schedule:

  • Three 12-hour shifts per week with every other weekend required or alternate four-week shift options.
